Procedures

image

Procedures are essentially sets of instructions describing how to execute a task. for example, a procedure could describe how to give CPR, how to administer medication, or even how to change a tire. The structure of a procedure is generic enough to encapsulate just about any task.

What makes procedures noteworthy is that they are hierarchical – procedures can be embedded inside of other procedures, and those embedded procedures can in turn contain their own sub-procedures, etc. etc. – and also support branching paths. In turn, this allows procedures to not only encapsulate simple linear sets of instructions, but also much more complex branching-path decision trees.

Procedures "steps" can also contain embedded multimedia, such as still images and videos. Links can also be defined to trigger when certain procedure steps are reached, allowing full integration of procedures with dynamic behaviors e.g. dynamic 3D holographic animations in the world, demonstrating the proper technique for a procedure step.
